How it works
How this tool works.
A move-in / move-out inspection is the record that settles security-deposit disputes before they start. Walking the unit room by room and noting the condition — with both parties agreeing on paper — protects the tenant from being charged for pre-existing wear and protects the landlord’s ability to document real damage.
This template lets you build that record. Enter the property, tenant, and date, choose move-in or move-out, then set a condition and note for each area — kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living space, and exterior. Print it for both parties to sign. It’s a self-help template you complete yourself, not legal advice — deposit rules vary, so confirm your local requirements.
Enter the property address, the tenant’s name, and the inspection date, and choose whether this is a move-in or move-out inspection.
For each room or area, pick a condition — good, fair, or needs attention — and add a note describing anything worth recording.
The printable form assembles every area into a clean table with room for both parties to sign and date.
Click Print / Save as PDF, then walk the unit together and sign. It’s a template you fill in yourself; it doesn’t assert any legal standard or deposit rule.
